Pentair IntelliChlor Salt Calculator
Calibrated for Pentair IntelliChlor IC20, IC40, & IC60 (3,600 PPM)
Pentair IntelliChlor systems operate at a slightly higher salinity target (3,600 PPM) compared to other brands. Use our calibrated engine to dose accurately without triggering cell warning lights.

Salt Required
Required salt to reach target salinity.
Common sizing for most stores in the United States.
Standard package size in Canada, UK, and Australia.
Safe Dissolving Advisory: Pour the salt bags directly along the deep end perimeter of your pool. Turn on your primary filter pump and brush the salt heaps until they are completely dissolved. Maintain circulating currents and keep your salt cell chlorinator turned off for 24 hours while the salt disperses to avoid low/high voltage spikes.
Maintain 3,600 PPM calibration and prevent scale build-up on platinum cell plates.
Understanding IntelliChlor Status Lights & Operating Ranges
The Pentair IntelliChlor cell features built-in LED diagnostic indicators right on the electrolytic body. A solid GREEN light confirms salt is between 3,000 and 4,500 PPM (ideal performance range).
A flashing RED light indicates low salt (under 2,800 PPM), while a solid red light indicates critical low salt (<2,600 PPM), completely halting chlorine sanitization. Flashing red on the high side warns of levels exceeding 4,500 PPM.
Routine Cell Maintenance & Acid Cleaning Frequency
Inspect your IC20 or IC40 cell every 3 months for calcium carbonate scaling between the titanium plates. If scale forms, soak the cell in a 4:1 water-to-muriatic acid bath for no longer than 15 minutes to preserve plate coatings.
